About Us
Blind Ambition PDX, Inc.* is the first visually impaired dragon boat team in the U.S. to compete equally with sighted teams. We’re based out of Portland, Oregon so it was a natural that we made our debut splash at the 2002 Portland Rose Festival. Since then, we’ve raced in various competitions on the West Coast.
Although we come from many walks of life, we all share a love of paddling and a commitment to promote the abilities of the blind/visually impaired in a competitive environment through paddle sports.
You see, recreational paddling isn’t like most sports. In the boat, we don’t need adaptations or special equipment. We’re on an equal playing field with everyone else. We get to be just athletes – not “blind athletes.”
And it’s a ton of fun.
Come on down to the river some time when we’re practicing. If there’s room in the boat we might just take you for the ride of your life!
